Join us in Operation Lemonade - urgently closing the digital divide for LMI learners affected by pandemic shutdowns

The Coronavirus pandemic has forced the shutdown of increasingly many schools, colleges and other educational systems, compelling learners and their educators to either go online or stop learning.

Unfortunately, fully one-fifth of all learners lack home access to broadband and computers.  Also, many learners and educators lack the timely tech support they need to teach and learn successfully.  Tech support capacity building is urgently needed as well.

Banking leaders can play a crucial role in addressing these urgent needs:

CRA credit for removing digital divide barriers to financial, economic and educational inclusion

NCDE's policy advocacy and pioneering pilot efforts helped persuade federal Community Reinvestment Act policy makers to allow banks, for the first time, the option of receiving credit toward their CRA requirement by investing in broadband and other dimensions of the digital divide.

NCDE has partnered with banks to set new precedents and identified existing precedents others have set in CRA credit for such essential digital equity resources for LMI (low- and moderate-income) learners in LMI areas as:

* Free and refurbished computers
* Discounted and free broadband access
* Tech support
* Librarian support
* Digital learning resources for financial, economic, and educational inclusion

Support Operation Lemonade and foster systemic inclusion - financial, economic, educational and digital - today!
